Another 3G Option: U-Mobile

9 April 2008 1,333 views 10 Comments

For over a week I had to and fro between Saujana Utama, Puncak Perdana and Seksyen 7. While my car still in the ‘hospital’ for special treatment so its kinda hard for me without any transport. Just need to prepare going back to JB tomorrow, maybe.

In the meanwhile I do certain jobs for my friend. When he knew I need an internet connection, he offers me to try his U-Mobile, another 3G service provider.

He gave me the cute slim HSDPA USB Modem that is preconfigured with U Mobile’s data settings. I need to plug it into my mom’s laptop USB port, enter the password and then start surfing the internet. From my experience, I need to wait around 1-2minutes before it will connected with HSDPA speed.

For the performance, Streamyx is faster 2-5 secs for each time loading pages. Certain times U-Mobile can be more faster than Streamyx lol..My location to surf is around Shah Alam. Oh before I forget, their coverage only within Klang Valley. You can download a Locality Coverage Area - Primary List at HERE. Find out if your area postcode is in the list.

Only one thing that disappointed me. The download speed is super-duper slow. If you are download addict, I don’t think you can bear with it. They need to improve it in the future. Anyway maybe this can make you relief a bit. U-Mobile offers 8-Day Money Back and early Termination option so if the connection quality is not satisfied, then you can get you money back.

This is what you gonna get:

Surf as long as you like at RM 78/Month
Unlimited U-Mobile Broadband Access Using 3.5G Connection
Includes a HSDPA USB Modem
8-Days Money Back Guarantee
Connection Speed up to 3.6Mbps

You can either go through the U-Mobile website or contact Faiz at 019-2408997.

So, for those that not pleased with Celcom Broadband or Maxis Broadband, you can think the other choice now.

im using celcom.. they seems to have some promo or something right now.. a modem and registration is only RM799.. unlike maxis, this modem is belong to u.. even though maxis is cheaper, but the modem is for rent.. like about more than rm100 or something.. so, yes it is cheap for a month, but if you sum up the bill for around next 18 month, celcom is alot cheper.. also, let say, one day u want to cancel ur registration, u have to return the modem to maxis.. lol.. its just for rent.. also, the coverage is much better for celcom.. honestly, i saw my friends who use maxis and they just piss off with the coverage.. need to find the appropriate spot to get connected
    aku copy jer tu…hak2

    Umobile is cheating on consumers!

When u subscribe umobile broadband first 7 days u can surf up Internet very fast.

After that they will throttle your speed, block a lot of ports, block application and encourage u to unsubscribe!

When you cannot withhold with their bad service, during termination of this service they will want you compensate RM800 for unsubcription!

It is true. I worked before with Umobile. Their technical team is limiting your Internet speed.
